AI Visibility Tools for Small Business

How to check if ChatGPT recommends your small business: 12 tools compared

Before you pay anyone to make AI assistants recommend you, find out where you stand. Here are twelve ways to check, in alphabetical order, what each one costs, which engines it covers, and one thing each does not do.

Short Answer

What is the best service to check if AI engines like ChatGPT recommend my small business?

It depends on what you want to see. For a free one-time look, try the AIScope report, the Semrush free checker or the Namebeam free check. For low-cost monthly monitoring, look at Otterly.AI, Ayzeo or HubSpot AEO. If you want the same questions asked every day, with every answer kept and dated so you can compare a month and not a single day, that is what Namebeam does, and Namebeam is our product. For more prompts and engines at a larger budget, look at Peec AI, Semrush AI Visibility, ZipTie or Profound. Prices below were read from each vendor's own page on 2026-10-06.

Disclosure: Namebeam is our product. The list below is in alphabetical order. It is not a ranking. We included tools that check whether AI assistants name a small business and whose pricing page we could read. We read each price and engine list from the vendor's own page on the date shown. If a fact is wrong, tell us and we will correct it and print the correction date in the change log below.

The Limits

What are the limits of each tool?

Each limit below comes from the vendor's own page, read on 2026-10-06. Entries are in the same alphabetical order.

AIScope. The page names ChatGPT, Claude and Perplexity; Gemini and Google AI Overview are not named. It offers a free report and says automation re-runs the report month over month, and the page prints no price for the re-runs.

Ayzeo. Starter at $39 per month includes ChatGPT and Google AI Overview, with 1 project and 20 prompts. Claude, Perplexity and Gemini cost $29 per month each. The 14-day Pro trial asks for a card up front.

Duda AI Visibility. It is an add-on for Duda accounts, with automated monthly reporting. Its AI Visibility Score is the share of responses that mention the brand, from AI tools like ChatGPT and Google's AI Overviews. Monthly reporting shows what the engines answered on the days sampled.

FRANK. The Duda App Store page lists 3 AI answer prompts monitored monthly on Standard and 5 on Pro. Monthly monitoring shows what the engines answered on the days sampled.

HubSpot AEO. At $50 per month ($45 if paid annually) the page names ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity; Claude and Google AI Overview are not named. The product is labeled Beta on its page.

Manual check. It costs no cash and takes your time on every check. It keeps no dated record unless you log each answer with its date, and a single answer is a sample.

Namebeam. Namebeam is our product. It does not measure sentiment and does not compute a share-of-voice percentage; it returns the dated raw transcript of what each engine said (namebeam.ai/vs-hubspot-ai-search-grader).

Otterly.AI. Lite at $29 per month covers 15 prompts on ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity and Microsoft Copilot. On Lite, Claude is a $29 per month add-on and Gemini and Google AI Mode are $9 per month each.

Peec AI. Starter at $95 per month covers 50 prompts, 1 project and 3 models you choose. An additional model is listed from $30 per month on annual billing.

Profound. The brands tab lists a free 7-day trial (50 prompts daily on ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews) and a custom Enterprise plan with no public monthly price. Trial prompts cannot be customized.

Semrush AI Visibility. The base plan is $99 per month per domain with 25 tracked prompts; an added domain is $99 per month and 50 more prompts are $60 per month (semrush.com/kb/1493-ai-visibility-toolkit). That page says the toolkit has no free trial, and Semrush lists a free AI Visibility Checker separately.

ZipTie. Price depends on prompts, engines and refresh rate; the Starter preset is from $42.75 per month. Its own pricing FAQ says there are no white-label reports and no cross-client rollup. It offers a 7-day free trial with 25 daily prompts.

Why One Check Is Not Enough

The answer you see today may not be there tomorrow

We ask the same local buyer questions every day and keep every answer with its date. In September 2026, about 3 to 4 in 10 of the businesses Perplexity named carried over to the next day. On Google, about 8 in 10 of the result domains did.

One law firm was mentioned in 10 of Perplexity's 27 September answers to the same question. A single screenshot on any of the other 17 days would have said it was invisible.

On 2026-08-05 we ran the same roster twice, minutes apart. No two answers were byte-identical, and the named or not-named verdict flipped in 4.5 percent of 22 comparable checks (namebeam.ai/llms.txt, dated 2026-08-05).

So whichever tool you use, check more than once, and compare the month, not the day.

How To Read Any Tool's Result

Three questions to ask before you trust a report

1. Which engines, and on how many days? One run is a snapshot. Ask how many days the result covers.

2. Did the engine actually answer? Engines sometimes fail or refuse. A failed run is not a "no".

3. Does it show the sources? The pages an engine cites are where the fix usually starts.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Can I check for free whether ChatGPT recommends my business?

Yes. You can ask ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity the question your customers would ask and write down what each says. Free tools also exist: the Namebeam free check, the AIScope report and the Semrush AI Visibility Checker. One answer is a sample and can change tomorrow, so repeat the check on different days.

Why does the answer change from day to day?

Assistants generate each answer when asked and can cite different pages from one day to the next. In our record, about 3 to 4 in 10 of the businesses Perplexity named in September 2026 were named again the next day. When we ran the same roster twice minutes apart on 2026-08-05, no two answers were byte-identical, and the named or not-named verdict flipped in 4.5 percent of 22 comparable checks.

How many days of results should I look at before I decide?

No single number fits every business. One day is a sample, so look at a month of daily answers and count the days you were named out of the days the assistant answered. A failed or refused run is not a no, and should be counted separately. One law firm in our record was named by Perplexity on 10 of 27 days in September 2026.

What does it cost to monitor AI answers for one small business?

From the vendor pages read on 2026-10-06: Otterly.AI Lite is $29 per month, Ayzeo Starter $39, HubSpot AEO $50, Peec AI Starter $95 and Semrush AI Visibility $99 per domain. ZipTie's Starter preset is from $42.75. Namebeam's free check costs nothing and its agency evidence pack is $397 one time. Plans differ in prompts and engines, so compare the table.

Can any of these tools make AI assistants recommend me?

No tool can promise that. They measure what the assistants say. What you change on your own site and listings afterward is up to you, and results vary. A tool that guarantees placement in AI answers is making a claim nobody can verify.

Which AI assistants should a small business check?

Check the ones your customers use. Every vendor tool in the table covers ChatGPT. Coverage of Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, Copilot and Google AI Overview varies, and some tools charge extra for each added engine. Namebeam asks five: ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Gemini and Google AI Overview.

Is this list independent?

No. Namebeam is our product and is one of the twelve entries. The list is in alphabetical order and is not a ranking. We read each price and engine list from the vendor's own page on 2026-10-06 and print the date next to each figure. See the disclosure at the top and the change log at the bottom.

Method

How this list was made and how to correct it

Inclusion rule. A tool is listed if it checks whether AI assistants name a small business and its own pricing page could be read on 2026-10-06. A tool whose page could not be read would be marked unverified and shown without a price.

Price rule. Every price, engine list and free-tier statement comes from the vendor's own page on the date shown. No price comes from a third-party article.

Corrections. If a fact is wrong, tell us. We will correct it and print the correction date in the log below.

Changes to this page

Method. Daily API runs of fixed buyer questions on each engine, every answer stored with its date and file hash in a public record. The 3 to 4 in 10 figure is the median day-to-day overlap of the businesses Perplexity named (0.40 exact names, 0.50 with name variants merged), 46 city and trade combinations, September 2026. Google figure: median overlap of top-result websites between consecutive runs, 0.78. Citation counts: Perplexity sources_cited on the question above, 41 answers that returned OK.
