From 2026-09-01 to 2026-10-12, we asked four AI engines the same local question every day for roofing companies in Dallas TX, Denver CO, and Miami FL. Perplexity named at least one business in 114 of 114 saved answers (100.0%), OpenAI in 40 of 123 (32.5%), Anthropic Claude in 1 of 123 (0.8%), and Gemini in 27 of 27 (100.0%, Gemini answered on fewer days, so it has its own denominator).

Day to day, the business named most often in an engine's answer changed from one day to the next (counted over consecutive-day pairs) in 54 of 105 for Perplexity, 2 of 21 for OpenAI and 14 of 16 for Gemini. Anthropic Claude named a business in 1 of 123 answers, too few for a day-to-day comparison.
A homeowner with a leak can ask ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, or Claude and get a reply in plain language. In this record the engines behave very differently: some name a business in most answers and some in few or none, and the business at the top changes from day to day on several of them. That is why each engine is checked separately and by date.
